Baidyanath Vasavaleha: Vasavaleha is a famous Ayurvedic medicine.It is available in herbal jam or paste form.It is mainly used in the treatment of respiratory conditions.

Vasavaleha uses:
Vasavaleha is used in the treatment of cough, asthma, bronchitis, pain abdomen, bleeding disorders and fever.
It acts as broncho dilator and antimicrobial.

Traditional indications:

  • Rajayakshma chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis

  • Kasa cold, cough

  • Shwasa asthma, respiratory disorders involving difficulty in breathing

  • Parshvashoola pain on the sides of abdomen flanks

  • Hrut Shoola cardiac pain

  • Raktapitta bleeding disorders like nasal bleeding, Ulcerative colitis and menorrhagi

  • Jwara fever

Vasavaleha ingredients:

  • Vasa Adusa Adhatoda vasica juice is extracted from leaves 768 g

  • sugar 384 g

  • The above two are heated till semisolid consistency. While heating, 96 g of ghee is added. Later, Long pepper powder 96 g is added. At the end, 364 g of honey is added

Method of manufacturing:

  • Vasa leaves are collected, chopped into small pieces, taken in a wide mouthed jar. It is added with 16 parts of water, boiled and reduced to a quarter. It is filtered.

  • To this, Filtered Vasa Kashaya, sugar is added and heated till semisolid consistency is attained. Nearing to its semisolid consistency, ghee is added and heating is continued.

  • Once semisolid consistency is fully attained, it is taken out of fire.

  • While cooling down, it is added with long pepper powder and mixed well.

  • Once after it completely cools down, then honey is added and mixed well.

Dose: 6-12 grams once or two times a day before or after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.It is usually administered with milk/honey/warm water
